TLDR Bacteria from Xylocarpus fruit can be used in hair creams to treat hair loss and fight infections.
The study investigated the potential of symbiotic bacteria from Xylocarpus sp. mangrove fruit as antibacterial and antifungal agents for the cosmetic bioindustry. Six bacterial isolates were tested against pathogenic bacteria and fungi, and a cream containing these bacteria was applied to mouse skin for 14 days. Histological analysis showed that the bacterial cream, particularly the consortium formulation, effectively promoted hair follicle growth. The findings suggest that these symbiotic bacteria could be used in hair cream products to treat alopecia, highlighting their dual antibacterial and antifungal properties.
