TLDR Abyssinian cats can have a hair abnormality that makes their coat look rough and dull.
The study reported an abnormality in the hair shaft of Abyssinian cats, characterized by an onion-shaped swelling typically located at the tip of the whiskers and guard hairs, though sometimes found elsewhere along the hair shaft. This abnormality resulted in a rough, brittle, and lustreless appearance of the cats' coat. Despite these changes, microscopic examination showed that the epidermis, dermis, hair follicles, and appendages appeared normal. This condition was observed in two Abyssinian cats in Denmark and one in Australia.
