TLDR Women with acne and hair loss, even if they have regular periods, often have polycystic ovary syndrome.
The study evaluated ovarian morphology and the prevalence of polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM) in females aged 21 to 45 with acne and/or androgenic alopecia. Out of 115 patients, 28 (24.34%) had isolated androgenic alopecia, 54 (46.95%) had combined acne and alopecia, and 33 had isolated acne. Among those with isolated acne, 17 (51.5%) had PCOM. Among those with isolated alopecia, 16 (57.1%) had PCOM. Among those with combined acne and alopecia, 32 (59.3%) had PCOM. The study concluded that women with dermatological manifestations like acne and androgenic alopecia, even with regular menstruation, have a high prevalence of PCOS.

Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
