TLDR Ghrelin and its receptors likely aren't risk factors for PCOS.
This study investigated the role of ghrelin and ghrelin receptors in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by comparing their mRNA expression in follicular fluid cells from 22 control patients and 11 PCOS patients. The results showed no significant differences in the expression levels of ghrelin and GHS-R1b mRNA between the two groups, and GHS-R1a mRNA was not detected in any samples. The study concluded that ghrelin and its receptors may not be risk factors for PCOS.
