TLDR Kidney transplant patients often have skin issues, mainly infections.
A study of 153 kidney transplant patients at Hospital de Especialidades in Mexico City found that all patients had at least one dermatosis, with infectious dermatoses (mycosis, viral) being the most common, followed by other types such as keratosis pilaris, melasma, benign tumors, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, drug-related, and autoimmune conditions like alopecia areata. The study recommends pre-transplant dermatological evaluations to diagnose and treat dermatoses that could increase patient morbidity and mortality.
