TLDR Celiac disease patients often have psoriasis, dermatitis herpetiformis, and alopecia areata, but rarely vitiligo.
The study evaluated the frequency of autoimmune cutaneous disorders in 352 celiac disease (CD) patients aged 15-45 years. It found that 16.5% had psoriasis, 10.2% had dermatitis herpetiformis, 6.3% had alopecia areata, and 2.6% had vitiligo. The study concluded that psoriasis, dermatitis herpetiformis, and alopecia areata were prevalent in CD patients, while vitiligo was rare. It recommended routine screening and treatment for these conditions in CD patients. Gender, age, duration of CD, and duration of skin symptoms did not significantly affect the frequency of these manifestations.
