TLDR Celiac disease patients often have psoriasis, dermatitis herpetiformis, and alopecia areata, but rarely vitiligo.
This study evaluated the frequency of autoimmune cutaneous disorders in 352 patients with celiac disease (CD) aged 15-45 years. Conducted at Liaquat University Hospital, the study found that 10.2% of patients had dermatitis herpetiformis, 6.3% had alopecia areata, 2.6% had vitiligo, and 16.5% had psoriasis. The mean age of participants was 29.83 years, and the mean duration of CD was 5.99 years. The study concluded that psoriasis, dermatitis herpetiformis, and alopecia areata were prevalent among CD patients, while vitiligo was rare. It recommended routine screening and treatment for these conditions in CD patients.
