TLDR The minoxidil gel is stable and effective for treating alopecia areata.
The study focused on developing a minoxidil gel using Sepineo P 600 copolymer to address the drawbacks of traditional minoxidil lotions for treating alopecia areata, such as systemic side effects and low skin contact time. The gel was thoroughly evaluated for various properties, including pH, drug content, viscosity, and skin adhesivity. It demonstrated a high drug content of 99.80 ± 0.82%, good spreadability, and stability, with a non-corrosive nature. The in vitro release studies indicated a matrix release pattern, aligning with the Higuchi release model. The findings suggested that the minoxidil gel was a stable and effective formulation for skin application in treating alopecia areata.
