Studysummary Flutamide alone is as effective as the combination with finasteride for treating hirsutism. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
The study compared the efficacy and safety of flutamide alone versus a combination of finasteride and flutamide in treating hirsutism in 30 women over 12 months. Both treatment groups showed similar improvements in hirsutism scores, with a 35% reduction for flutamide alone and a 33% reduction for the combination at 6 months, and 45% and 49% reductions, respectively, at 12 months. The study concluded that the combination therapy was not more effective than flutamide alone in treating hirsutism.
