Five-year efficacy of finasteride in 801 Japanese men with androgenetic alopecia

TLDR Finasteride effectively promotes hair growth and reduces hair loss in men with androgenetic alopecia.
The study followed 801 Japanese men with androgenetic alopecia who were treated with finasteride for 5 years. The results showed that finasteride was effective in promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss in the participants. The degree of improvement was highest after one year of treatment and plateaued from the fourth year of treatment. The study recommends early initiation of finasteride therapy for AGA patients.
