TLDR Finasteride helps 83% of men maintain or increase hair count.
Finasteride, also known as Propecia, has been launched in the US as the only oral therapy available for androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss). Clinical studies involving 1215 men showed that after 2 years of therapy, 83% of men had the same or higher hair count, while only 17% had hair loss. The wholesale price of finasteride is $1.25 for one 1mg tablet, and the retail price is expected to be between $45 and $49 per month.
