TLDR Families help manage chemotherapy side effects at home by providing preferred foods, keeping hair short, assisting with routines, and ensuring hydration.
This study investigates the actions taken by families to help cancer patients manage chemotherapy side effects at home, involving 134 families of outpatients at Arifin Achmad Hospital. Key supportive actions include providing preferred foods to combat nausea and appetite loss (63% and 74.2% of patients, respectively), keeping hair short to manage hair loss (40.5%), assisting with routine management to alleviate fatigue (62.2%), and ensuring adequate hydration to address diarrhea (68.2%). These measures have been effective in mitigating side effects, offering a useful reference for other families in similar situations.
