TLDR Personalized treatment and teamwork among doctors can reduce chemotherapy side effects and improve patient outcomes.
Chemotherapy, while effective in destroying cancer cells, was associated with numerous adverse effects due to its toxicity, including myelosuppression, anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, cardiovascular disorders, hair loss, and more. The severity of these side effects depended on factors such as patient age, drug dosage and type, metabolism efficiency, and coexisting diseases. To address these challenges, it was crucial for cancer treatment to be managed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors. Individualized treatment plans and combined therapies were recommended to significantly reduce the occurrence of serious complications, thereby improving both the quality of treatment and patient life expectancy.
