TLDR Facial hair growth from minoxidil stopped after she quit using it.
A 24-year-old woman with androgenetic alopecia developed severe hypertrichosis on her face and ears after using a 5% topical minoxidil solution daily for three months. Minoxidil, a vasodilator known for promoting hair growth, can cause side effects such as facial hypertrichosis, especially with the 5% solution. Remarkably, the hypertrichosis resolved spontaneously three months after discontinuing the minoxidil treatment.
