TLDR Long eyelashes in a patient were an unusual sign of systemic lupus erythematosus.
The document reports a rare case of eyelash trichomegaly, a disorder characterized by changes in eyelashes' length, color, thickness, or curling, in a 19-year-old female patient. This patient, who also had diffused alopecia, was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Eyelash trichomegaly can be associated with various conditions, including HIV infection, congenital anomalies like oculocutaneous albinism or Oliver-McFarlane syndrome, certain medications, or it may be an isolated congenital trait. The association between eyelash trichomegaly and SLE in this patient is highlighted as an unusual feature.
