TLDR Baricitinib effectively promotes regrowth of eyebrows and eyelashes in alopecia areata patients.
The study investigates the involvement of eyebrows and eyelashes in patients with alopecia areata (AA) and their response to baricitinib treatment. Data from two trials, BRAVE-AA1 and BRAVE-AA2, involving patients treated with baricitinib 2 mg or 4 mg, were analyzed. Results showed that patients with severe eyebrow and eyelash involvement also had severe scalp hair loss. At Week 36, response rates for eyebrow and eyelash regrowth were significantly higher in patients treated with baricitinib compared to placebo, with the 4 mg dose showing the most efficacy. By Week 52, a majority of patients who responded to scalp treatment also showed regrowth in eyebrows and eyelashes, highlighting baricitinib's effectiveness across multiple hair-bearing sites in AA.
