TLDR Exosome and PRP therapies show promise for treating hair loss but need more research for standardization and safety.
Recent studies on regenerative therapies for androgenetic alopecia (AAG) show significant progress in understanding and effectiveness of approaches like exosomes, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and cellular therapies. This systematic literature review aimed to analyze recent scientific evidence on regenerative therapies using exosomes, PRP, and minoxidil for AAG treatment. Conducted in August 2025, the research identified 63 articles, with 8 meeting the inclusion criteria for analysis. The findings highlight the potential of exosome and PRP therapies as effective and minimally invasive alternatives for managing AAG, offering superior or complementary clinical benefits compared to minoxidil, with better tolerability and broader biological effects. However, despite encouraging results, there is a consensus on the need for standardized preparation, dosage, and application protocols, as well as larger-scale and long-term clinical trials to confirm the efficacy and safety of these treatments.
