TLDR Adult earlobe can have a benign cyst that is usually removed by surgery.
An epidermoid cyst is a common benign skin cyst, filled with keratin flakes and lined with keratinized epithelium. They can appear anywhere on the body but are most frequently found on the face, scalp, neck, chest, and upper back, with 80% occurring in ovaries and testicles and only 7% in the head and neck region. In the oral cavity, they are rarer, with a prevalence of 1.6%. These cysts can be either congenital, due to entrapment of skin elements during embryonic development, or acquired, often through trauma, surgical procedures, or blockage of hair follicles. Treatment typically involves surgical removal of the cyst.
