TLDR Single-needle radiofrequency is effective and safe for treating facial sebaceous hyperplasia.
This retrospective study involving 45 patients assessed the efficacy and safety of single-needle radiofrequency treatment for facial sebaceous hyperplasia. The treatment, requiring an average of 2.2 sessions, resulted in a significant reduction of lesions with minimal pain (mean VAS score of 2.6) and no serious complications like scarring or pigmentation. Males had longer disease courses and more lesions, necessitating more sessions. The study found a low recurrence rate of 2.2% over a 6-month follow-up, with single-needle radiofrequency showing superior efficacy compared to other treatments. Despite the small sample size, the study concludes that this method is an effective and safe option for treating sebaceous hyperplasia.
