TLDR Autologous PRP injections significantly speed up wound healing.
This study compared the efficacy of conventional wound care with and without intralesional autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in healing superficial wound dehiscence after Pfannenstiel incision surgery. Conducted at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore, from March 2021 to February 2022, it involved women aged 18-49 who were randomized into two groups: one receiving PRP injections alongside conventional care, and the other receiving only conventional care. The study found that the PRP group experienced significantly faster wound healing, with an average duration of 15.80 days compared to 20.30 days in the non-PRP group (p=0.000). The results suggest that autologous PRP injections can significantly reduce healing time for such wounds.
