TLDR Mesotherapy shows promise for treating alopecia but needs more research for long-term effectiveness.
This integrative review aimed to analyze the efficacy of mesotherapy in treating alopecia, focusing on clinical effects, substances used, and therapeutic safety. The review included 12 studies from 2020 to 2025, highlighting that the most effective protocols combined mesotherapy with minoxidil, PRP, or growth factors, significantly improving hair density and thickness. Commonly used substances were vitamins, minoxidil, and PRP, administered intradermally. Most studies had follow-up periods of less than 16 weeks and reported no significant adverse effects, except for one case of dutasteride-induced alopecia areata. The review concludes that while positive effects were observed, mesotherapy requires standardized protocols and larger studies to confirm long-term effectiveness.
