TLDR Intense Pulsed Light treatments significantly improve signs of aging and sun damage on the skin.
The study "Evaluation of the Efficacy of Intense Pulsed Light in Skin Rejuvenation" conducted a single arm interventional study on 21 adult female patients aged between 30-40 years, who were complaining of different signs of facial photodamage. The patients underwent 4 sessions of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments 2 weeks apart for skin rejuvenation. The results showed a highly significant decrease in the indentation index of wrinkles, roughness index of skin, and average level of melanin (average of whole face) measured by Antera 3D camera after the last IPL treatment session (p value=0.001). The study concluded that IPL is safe and significantly rejuvenates the skin without prolonged downtime. It is effective in treating various manifestations of photodamaged skin, as consistently echoed by patient satisfaction scores, Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS), and Antera 3D camera results.
