Early Efficacy of Ferric Carboxymaltose (Ferinject®) in Patients with Iron-Deficiency Anemia: Single Institution Experience

TLDR Ferric carboxymaltose effectively improved iron deficiency anemia symptoms and increased hemoglobin and ferritin levels.
The study assessed the efficacy of ferric carboxymaltose in treating iron deficiency anemia in 42 female patients, with a mean age of 40 years, over a period from 2015 to 2017. Patients experienced symptoms such as fatigue, hair loss, and menstrual irregularities, with hemoglobin levels ranging from 6.0 to 12.6 gr/dl and ferritine levels from 1.0 to 17.6 ng/ml. Treatment with ferric carboxymaltose led to a rapid resolution of symptoms and an increase in ferritine and hemoglobin levels. Although 33% of patients reported side effects like rash and nausea, these were manageable. Overall, the treatment was effective in improving the patients' condition.
