TLDR The thulium laser and PDRN injections effectively improved hair thickness in patients with pattern hair loss.
The study from 2016 evaluated the efficacy of a combination therapy using a 1,927-nm fractionated thulium laser and polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) injections for treating pattern hair loss (PHL). It involved 16 patients, with 8 receiving the thulium laser and PDRN injections, and the other 8 receiving mesotherapy and PDRN injections, over 12 sessions. The results showed that one week after the final treatment, the group treated with the thulium laser and PDRN combination had significant clinical improvement in hair thickness (53.1±31.1%; P=0.029) but not in hair counts (P>0.05), compared to the mesotherapy and PDRN group. The study concluded that the combination of thulium laser and PDRN injections is effective in improving hair thickness and density in patients with PHL.
