Assessment of Efficacy and Safety Profile of Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy with Derma Roller in the Treatment of Female Pattern Hair Loss

This study assessed the efficacy and safety of PRP therapy combined with a derma roller in treating female pattern hair loss in 40 women aged 18-50. Over 6 months, patients received 4 monthly PRP treatments followed by 2 months of follow-up. Results showed significant improvement: 76.3% of patients improved to Grade II alopecia, and 10.5% to Grade I, with none remaining in Grade IV. Most patients (53%) saw improvement after 3 sittings, and 84.2% experienced no adverse effects, with pain being the most common side effect (5.3%). The study concluded that PRP is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective treatment for female pattern hair loss.
