TLDR Germinated hemp seed extracts help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.
The study investigates the effects of biomaterials derived from germinated hemp seeds on stressed hair stem cells and immune cells, particularly in the context of androgenetic alopecia. Using methods like quantitative PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, and immunocytochemistry, the researchers found that both germinated hemp seeds extract (GE2000) and exosomes from calli of germinated hemp seeds (E40) can prevent hair loss by modulating genetic and immune responses. Specifically, these biomaterials upregulated genes that prevent alopecia and suppressed genes that activate it, with E40 showing a stronger effect. The findings suggest that these biomaterials can effectively counteract dihydrotestosterone (DT) stress and promote hair formation.
