Effects of a new mild shampoo for preventing hair loss in Asian by a simple hand-held phototrichogram technique
June 2011
in “International Journal of Cosmetic Science”
TLDR The new mild shampoo helped prevent hair loss in the subjects.
The study involved 44 Korean subjects with alopecia, out of which 40 completed a 16-week trial to assess the effectiveness of a new mild shampoo (APHG-0803) in preventing hair loss. The shampoo contained active ingredients like TOS extract and triaminodil. Using a hand-held phototrichogram technique, the study found that the test group using the shampoo had a significant increase in total hair counts at weeks 8 and 16, a decrease in shedding hair at week 16, and an increase in terminal hair counts at week 8, compared to the control group. The control group, on the other hand, experienced a decrease in hair thickness and vellus hair counts at week 16. The study concluded that the test shampoo could prevent hair loss in the subjects and highlighted the efficacy of the improved phototrichogram technique for hair analysis.
