TLDR Rosemary may effectively treat hair loss with fewer side effects than conventional treatments.
This literature review examines the potential of Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting its anti-inflammatory, anti-androgenic, antifungal, photoprotective, and vasodilatory properties. The review suggests that rosemary could offer an effective, plant-based alternative for AGA treatment with minimal side effects compared to conventional pharmacological options, which often have significant adverse effects such as sexual dysfunction and hepatotoxicity. The findings emphasize the need for further research to validate rosemary's efficacy and safety in dermatological applications for hair loss.
