TLDR PRP treatment effectively improves hair density and thickness in people with androgenic alopecia.
The study investigated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 30 subjects over a period from July 2018 to June 2020. Participants received five PRP treatments at 4-5 week intervals, with follow-up examinations. Results showed a significant increase in hair number and diameter in the treated group compared to the control group. Specifically, hair number per square centimeter increased from a median of 38.0 to 53.0 in the treated group, while hair diameter increased from 65.0 μm to 80.0 μm. No treatment-related adverse effects were reported. The study concluded that PRP is an effective treatment for AGA, improving hair density, diameter, and patient satisfaction.
