TLDR Different amounts of propylene glycol change the thickness of katuk leaf hair tonic.
The study investigated the impact of varying concentrations of propylene glycol (5%, 15%, and 25%) on the physical characteristics of hair tonic preparations made from katuk leaf extract (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr), which is known to contain flavonoids that stimulate hair growth. The research was experimental, using a completely randomized design (CRD) one factorial, and assessed the organoleptic properties, clarity, pH, viscosity, and specific gravity of the hair tonic. The results, analyzed using ANOVA with a 95% confidence level and followed by a Post hoc test, indicated that the different concentrations of propylene glycol significantly affected the viscosity of the hair tonic (p<0.05).
