TLDR Antioxidants improved hair growth in alopecia areata patients regardless of disease duration.
The study investigated the effect of antioxidant vitamins (A, E, and C) on patients with alopecia areata (AA) and found that antioxidant treatment improved hair growth regardless of the duration of the disease. Thirty patients were divided into three groups based on the duration of their AA (less than 1 year, 1-2 years, and more than 2 years) and received antioxidants for two months. Blood samples were analyzed for oxidative stress markers before and after treatment. The results showed no significant difference in response rates among the groups, indicating that antioxidants were beneficial for hair growth in AA patients irrespective of how long they had the condition.
