TLDR Eclipta alba may help with antiaging by improving mitochondrial function.
Eclipta alba, also known as False Daisy, was studied for its potential antiaging properties. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine for benefits such as hair growth and diabetes management, Eclipta alba was included in a discovery screening process by Amway Corporation. The initial screening showed that Eclipta alba stimulated PGC 1alpha, a function associated with increased mitochondrial mass. This is significant because mitochondrial dysfunction is linked to aging, and stimulating PGC 1alpha could counteract this dysfunction. Additionally, a compound in the plant, Wadelactone, was found to activate PGC 1alpha. These findings suggested that Eclipta alba could be a valuable botanical ingredient for antiaging products, leading to the development of an in-house extraction method for its use.
