TLDR The TT/DHT ratio may help identify PCOS patients with severe metabolic issues.
This study examined the relationship between dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels, the total testosterone-to-DHT (TT/DHT) ratio, and clinical and metabolic features in 30 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It found that the TT/DHT ratio was significantly lower in patients with regular menstruation compared to those with oligomenorrhea and amenorrhea, and higher in patients with insulin resistance. A moderate positive correlation was observed between DHT levels and body mass index (BMI), and a significant correlation between fasting blood sugar (FBS) and the TT/DHT ratio. The study concludes that the TT/DHT ratio could serve as a useful biomarker for identifying PCOS patients with more severe metabolic issues, though larger studies are needed to confirm these findings.
