TLDR A higher testosterone to dihydrotestosterone ratio may indicate worse metabolic health in women.
The study found that a higher total testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (T/DHT) ratio, measured by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), was associated with a worse metabolic profile in both women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and healthy women. This suggested that the T/DHT ratio could be a useful marker for identifying women at risk of metabolic issues, regardless of PCOS status. The findings highlighted the potential importance of monitoring this hormonal ratio to better understand and manage metabolic health in women.
