TLDR The PRF/micrograft spray-on skin method effectively healed massive and chronic burns quickly.
This retrospective study explored the use of a combination of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and micrograft spray-on skin for treating massive and chronic full-thickness burns in five patients. The treatment involved using Rigenera technology to create autologous micrografts, which were then combined with PRF and applied to the wound bed using a Spraypen. The wounds were initially prepared with an Integra® dermal template and antimicrobial dressing. The study found that all patients experienced fast and complete skin grafting within 7-10 days. Notably, two patients with massive burns showed rapid reepithelialization, and three patients with chronic burn wounds, including two with previous failed grafts, achieved complete healing within a week. The findings suggested that PRF/micrograft spray-on skin could be a promising method for managing burns and chronic burn wounds.
