TLDR The PRF/micrograft spray-on skin method effectively healed massive and chronic burns quickly.
This retrospective study investigated the use of autologous micrografts combined with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) for treating massive and chronic full-thickness burns in five male patients. The technique involved applying a solution of micrografts and PRF to the wound bed, followed by meshed skin grafting. The study found high graft take rates (96%-98%) and successful wound healing, with complete reepithelialization occurring within days. The approach showed potential as an effective treatment, particularly in resource-limited settings, although the small sample size and retrospective design indicated the need for further randomized trials to confirm efficacy.
