TLDR Minoxidil can help hair growth but may not always look cosmetically good.
Topical 2% minoxidil was the first documented medical treatment to stimulate hair growth in male pattern baldness, although its clinical effectiveness was often overstated. Studies since 1979 showed that while minoxidil could safely induce terminal hair growth in some men, the key issue was whether this growth provided satisfactory cosmetic improvement.
