TLDR Dermabrasion is a safe, effective way to improve skin appearance with minimal recovery time.
This review discussed the anatomy of the skin, the tools used in dermabrasion and microdermabrasion, and the techniques for facial dermabrasion, highlighting its applications in treating wrinkles, abnormal scarring, and premalignant lesions. Dermabrasion was described as a minimally invasive skin resurfacing method with low risks of complications, such as pigment changes, hypertrophic scarring, and infection. Despite newer therapies like lasers and chemical peels, dermabrasion remained an effective option for reducing the signs of aging with minimal downtime compared to surgery.
