TLDR Hair bleaching causes significant damage to hair and skin.
The study investigated the effects of hair bleaching on both human hair and rat skin using ammonium persulfate and hydrogen peroxide solutions. It was found that bleaching caused significant damage, including irregular and lifted cuticle scales on hair, and severe swelling, epidermal thinning, and subepidermal vesicle formation on rat skin. The mechanical properties of bleached hair, such as tensile strength and elongation, were slightly altered. The study concluded that only suitable bleaching procedures should be used to avoid such injuries.
