TLDR Cyclophosphamide severely damages the intestinal lining in rats.
The study investigated the effects of cyclophosphamide on the intestinal mucosa of adult male albino rats. Twenty-four rats were divided into two groups, with one group receiving a single sublethal dose of cyclophosphamide. After two weeks, significant structural changes were observed in the intestinal mucosa of the treated group, including inflammation, degenerative changes, and apoptosis. The study concluded that a single intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide caused massive destruction in the intestinal mucosa.
