TLDR A sugar glider had a rare skin cancer that worsened despite treatment, highlighting the need for thorough checks in exotic pets.
A 3-year-old male sugar glider was diagnosed with cutaneous epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma (CETCL), a rare condition in this species, characterized by pruritus and alopecia. Despite treatment with prednisone and lomustine, the condition deteriorated, resulting in the animal's death. This case emphasizes the necessity of comprehensive diagnostic evaluations in exotic pets and the challenges in treating lymphoid neoplasms in these animals. The study calls for further research to understand the etiology and enhance treatment strategies for CETCLs in marsupials.
