The review examined the application of 3D printing in cosmetics, particularly focusing on microneedles (MNs) and skin patches for enhanced delivery of active ingredients. It concluded that 3D printed dissolving MNs were likely to become more prevalent than patches due to their minimally invasive nature and ability to create micro-channels in the skin, improving delivery efficacy. Various 3D printing technologies, such as SLA and DLP, were explored for their precision in producing MNs, though challenges like material optimization and high costs remained. The review emphasized the potential of 3D printing for personalized cosmetic solutions, but noted that further research and development were necessary to overcome existing obstacles and fully realize its potential in the cosmetic industry.
