TLDR COVID-19 may cause hair loss conditions like alopecia areata and telogen effluvium.
The study investigated the effects of COVID-19 on hair health, specifically focusing on trichology. The research was conducted via an online questionnaire asking about patients' conditions before and after the disease. The study found two main hair-related alterations in patients who had COVID-19: alopecia areata and telogen effluvium. The conclusion of the study suggests that these types of alopecia, usually associated with other systemic diseases, may be triggered by SARS-CoV-2 through different autoimmune pathways. This connection between COVID-19 and hair loss conditions indicates a need for further research.
