TLDR Covid-19 may cause hair loss conditions like alopecia areata and telogen effluvium.
This study investigated the impact of Covid-19 on hair health, specifically focusing on trichology. Conducted via an online questionnaire, the research identified two main hair conditions in patients post-Covid-19: alopecia areata and telogen effluvium. The findings suggested that while these types of alopecia are associated with various systemic diseases, the SARS-CoV-2 virus could trigger autoimmune pathways, linking these hair conditions to the virus. The study concluded that further research was necessary to explore these connections.
