TLDR A new cosmetic cream reduced facial redness and skin temperature after 4 weeks of use.
In a study conducted by Mary Kay, Inc., a novel cosmetic formulation was found to be an effective treatment for improving the appearance of facial erythema (redness) and associated skin temperature. The study involved 22 subjects with persistent facial erythema who applied the formulation twice daily for 4 weeks. Clinical assessments and infrared thermography measured the efficacy of the treatment. Results showed a significant reduction in visual erythema scores and skin temperature at weeks 2 and 4 compared to baseline (P < .05). This indicates that the cosmetic formulation containing multiple botanical extracts can reduce proinflammatory cytokines and nitric oxide synthase activity, leading to an improvement in facial redness symptoms.
