The Contribution of Shaykh Abbas Kuta Karang in Malay Medicine: A Study on Al-Rahmah fi Al-Tib wa Al-Hikmah Manuscript

Shaykh Abbas Kuta Karang, a 19th-century Malay scholar from Aceh, Indonesia, made significant contributions to Malay medical knowledge through his manuscript Al-Rahmah fi al-Tib wa al-Hikmah. This study highlights his biography and the methodology used in his medical writings. The manuscript, a key reference for Malay medical practitioners, is organized into five chapters covering human anatomy, types of food and medicine, preventive healthcare, specific illnesses (including hair loss, migraines, and toothaches), and general illnesses (such as fever and stroke). The research employed a qualitative, library-based approach, utilizing data from the manuscript, books, journals, and previous studies.
