TLDR Postpartum hair loss is common, temporary, and linked to hormonal changes, stress, and nutrition.
This integrative review examines postpartum telogen effluvium (ETPP), a common condition characterized by diffuse hair loss after childbirth due to hormonal, nutritional, and emotional changes. The review highlights the increasing scientific interest in ETPP, particularly after 2020, and identifies hormonal decline, stress, and nutritional deficiencies as primary factors. Diagnosis is mainly clinical, and management strategies include nutritional supplementation, topical lotions, and psychological support. Although ETPP is self-limiting, it significantly impacts emotional well-being, underscoring the need for more research and specific protocols to address postpartum women's hair and mental health.
