Contact dermatitis due to minoxidil

TLDR Minoxidil caused a skin reaction in a woman.
A 25-year-old woman with androgenetic alopecia experienced itching and erythema on her scalp after using a 2% minoxidil solution for one month. Her symptoms resolved upon discontinuation of minoxidil but reappeared when she resumed its use after a month. Patch testing showed a papulo-vesicular reaction to both the commercial minoxidil lotion and a paste made from minoxidil tablets, while tests with ethyl alcohol were negative, indicating that minoxidil was the cause of her contact dermatitis.
