TLDR During the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey, the most common skin problem for both kids and adults was acne.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey from March 30 to April 30, 2020, the most frequent dermatological issue among both pediatric and adult patients was acne, with 10 pediatric patients (16.4%) and 89 adult patients (20.9%) reporting this condition. Out of the 99 acne patients, 70 (70.7%) were undergoing systemic isotretinoin treatment and were seeking prescription renewals. The study highlighted a significant reduction in pediatric dermatology visits, attributed to a curfew for children, with outpatient visits falling to one-sixth of the typical volume. Other prevalent conditions included scabies, atopic dermatitis, and other eczematous eruptions in children, and dermatitis, fungal infections, urticaria, and scabies in adults. Many patients were also looking to continue their existing treatments, such as omalizumab for urticaria. Despite restrictions, individuals with nonurgent dermatological conditions continued to pursue medical assistance.
