Omalizumab is a medication used to treat certain allergic conditions, such as chronic hives and severe asthma, by targeting and blocking immunoglobulin E (IgE), a protein involved in allergic reactions. It is a monoclonal antibody administered via injection and helps reduce the frequency and severity of allergic symptoms by preventing IgE from binding to its receptors on immune cells.
