TLDR Combining oral prednisolone and topical minoxidil effectively reduces hair loss and promotes regrowth in alopecia areata.
The study conducted in Bangladesh on alopecia areata suggested that a combination therapy of oral prednisolone for 6 weeks followed by topical 2% minoxidil for 14 weeks was effective. This noninvasive treatment was found to be a better remedy, as steroids may promote hair growth through immunosuppression. The combination therapy showed promising results in minimizing hair loss and promoting regrowth. However, the study recommended further research with a larger population to improve treatment compliance and efficacy.
