TLDR CNVs influence hair length in Tianzhu white yaks.
This study conducted a genome-wide analysis of copy number variation (CNV) in 10 long-haired and 10 normal-haired Tianzhu white yaks, identifying 110,268 CNVs and 2,006 CNV regions (CNVRs). The research highlighted 80 differential CNVR-harbored genes, with some linked to hair growth and hair-follicle development, such as ASTN2, ATM, and COL22A1. These findings offer new insights into the genetic basis of hair length variation in Tianzhu white yaks, emphasizing the role of CNVs in phenotypic diversity.
